First make sure that you have a valid connection to the router and that you have a valid IP address.
(note: for a wired connection you should have a link light on the numbered port of the router to which your computer is connected. You should have an IP address in the range 192.168.2.x. To check your IP address, click on Start, Run and type in command. Click OK. Now type in ipconfig and hit enter. Your IP address will be listed.)
For the F5D5230-4, F5D6230-3
- Open a Web Browser
- In the address bar type http://192.168.2.1
- Click on Intial Setup
- Select Dynamic and click Select
- Type in your Hostname *
- Click on Enter
- Enter the DNS Addresses provided by your ISP and click on Enter
- Click on Status in the left hand column
- It should now show Cable / DSL Connected under the Internet column
For the F5D5231-4, F5D6231-4, F5D7230-4, F5D7231-4, F5D7231-4P, F5D8230-4, F6D3230-4
- Open a Web Browser
- In the address bar type http://192.168.2.1
- Click on Connection Type in the left hand column under Internet WAN heading
- Enter your password if any and click Submit
- Click on Dynamic and then click on Next
- Type in your Hostname *
- Click on Apply Changes
- Click on DNS in the left hand column under Internet WAN heading
- Uncheck Automatic from ISP and type in the DNS Addresses provided by your ISP
- Click on Apply Changes
- Click on the Home link at the top of the screen
- It should now show Connected as the Internet Status at the top right hand corner of the web page
* Put in the name of your computer provided to you by ISP (This may be called a computer name or host name by your ISP).
