     Summary
I am unable to get anything to print or my printer is printing garbage. My printer is either not bi-directional or I have disabled it, why is it not working?

     More Info
First thing to check would be the cables, going from the computers to the switch. Make sure they are Belkin cables and they must be part number F3D111 or F2A047. If they are any other part number like F3D508-10 they will not work. They need to be the F3D111 or F2A047 part number cable in order for it to work.

Make sure the printer does work when connected directly to the computer. If not, contact the printer manufacturer for assistance. Once it works direct you should be able to get it working on the switch.

Check the parallel port mode that the computer is set for. You can check that in the computers BIOS/CMOS. Refer to the computers user manual or the computer manufacturer for assistance on getting into the BIOS/CMOS if you are not sure how. You will want to check the parallel port mode in there and make sure it is set to a Normal or Standard mode. It may also be called SPP, AT or Output only.

You can also try adding a 9V DC, 200mA power supply to the switch box as well.
